Lisbon has a lot of urban greenery to offer. I usually lie down in the grass of Jardim Cerca da Graca or enjoy the view to the Pantheon from Jardim Botto Machado… and there’s more!

Jardim Cerca da Graca
Good for: picnics, a drink at its little kiosk, meditating with your feet in the grass 🧘🏼♂️, sunsets and just being… While it’s off the tourist track, it’s a go-to place for locals and can get busy in the afternoons.

Jardim Botto Machado
This is where I enjoy my cinnamon buns from the nearby Copenhagen Coffee Lab. Besides a great spot to enjoy breakfast, enjoying the view of Pantheon from here is a treat too.

Jardim Botânico Tropical, Belem
These gardens are magical. They’re paid, I think 2 or 4 euros a person. You can get lost in them for hours. There’s plants from all over the world, a left-over from the World Expo in 1998.

Parque Florestal de Monsanto
A forest on the outskirts of Lisbon… Lovely for Sunday walks in nature… You can also find a (circular) abandoned restaurant here, with tons of urban art and a spectacular view.

Jardim Principe Real
Right in the heart of city, the garden of Principe Real, this garden is a little oasis. Two little kiosks to grab a drink from. A small market once a month. And, there’s access to the underground water tunnels – right in the centre of this garden.

Avenida da Liberdade & Estufa Fria
The change of seasons on Avenida da Liberdade is just gorgeous… Great for a wander in spring or fall. And while you’re there, you can make your way up to Estufa Fria (cold greenhouse) with 100s of tropical plants. It costs a couple of euros to enter.
