Beaches!

Living in Lisbon is so wonderful. It’s filled with views, colour and charm. It’s also near some of the countries best beaches!

Praia da Ursa

One of my favourite beaches, about an hours’ drive from Lisbon, is Praia da Ursa. I love Praia da Adraga, too. You can actually hike along the rocky coast between these two beaches (about 1,5hrs of hiking), starting from Adraga.

You need a car to get here.

Cascais

Easily reached by train from Lisbon’s Cais do Sodre, Cascais is a lovely beach-town. Walk along its promenade and you’ll find a beach that you like. If you’re exploring the town of Cascais and want healthy lunch, head to the colourful House of Wonders!

If you want something a little wilder, rent a bike 🚲 and head to Guincho. On your way there, you pass by Guia where you find several restaurants, including a favourite, Bistro na Guia – a great spot for lunch!

Carcavelos

The typical image of Carcavelos is a very FULL beach and lots of (beginner) surfers in the water… This part of the beach, called Moinho Beach (picture taken during low-tide) is just in front of the lovely Moinho bar, where they happen to make great Sangria! I also love Praia de Torre, just on the other side of the fort (often less windy, great for sunny winter days).

Carcavelos’ beaches are easy to get to by train.

Praia do Rebenta Bois

Praia do Rebenta Bois… this one is on the other side of the Tejo river. A bit more hidden than the other beaches mentioned in this list. I love this little gem. It’s a steep path to reach the beach, so bring good shoes or go barefoot. The nearby Praia do Foz is beautiful too!

You need a car to get here.

Arrabida’s beaches

Arrabida’s beaches are paradise. At least, to me they are! The water here is much calmer and you’re surrounded by natural park of Arrabida. This photo is taken from Praia do Creiro at low tide.

Arrabida is best reached by car.

And while you’re here, you can pop by Aloha Cafe in Sessimbra for brunch or lunch.
